Discovering Ribera Del Duero

June 19, 2026

Hungry Antwerp had the opportunity to discover one of Spain’s most renowned wine regions. Located in the heart of Castilla y León, Ribera del Duero is famous for its exceptional red wines, rolling vineyards and rich winemaking heritage. But what impressed us most were the people behind the wines and the passion that can be felt in every corner of the region.

We visited a selection of unique wineries, each with its own story, philosophy and character. From modern architectural masterpieces to family-owned estates with generations of tradition, every visit offered a different perspective on what makes this region so special.

One of the highlights was undoubtedly our early morning hot air balloon ride above the vineyards. Waking up before sunrise was absolutely worth it. As the sun slowly rose over the landscape, we enjoyed breathtaking views of endless vineyards, charming villages and the beautiful Spanish countryside. Admittedly, it was a little scary at first, but once in the air, it became one of the most memorable moments of the trip.

Another unforgettable experience was participating in a blind wine tasting. It was fascinating to discover how challenging it can be to identify wines without seeing the label, while also learning more about the complexity and diversity of Ribera del Duero wines.

Of course, no wine trip would be complete without incredible food. Throughout the journey, we enjoyed delicious local cuisine that perfectly complemented the wines and showcased the region’s rich gastronomic traditions.

Beyond the wineries and tastings, what made this trip truly special was the amazing international group we shared it with. Wine professionals, journalists and content creators from different countries came together, creating inspiring conversations, new friendships and plenty of laughter along the way.

A huge thank you to Vinopres and Ribera del Duero for this unforgettable experience. We left with a deeper appreciation for the region, its wines and the passionate people who make them possible.
